Beautiful post! First of all, I used to love that book (and the follow up "If You Give A Moose A Muffin", ha!). And second, you're so right about how dabbling is necessary to practice creativity in all of its forms. It's good to play! I was inspired recently to start an art journal where I just give myself permission to play with different mediums, and I've been amazed at how it unlocks parts of my brain that I didn't realize were there. If anything, I believe it has made my writing stronger, too. Storytelling isn't just about words. <3
My 4-year-old and I have also read all the spin offs. "If You Give a Cat a Cupcake," is also a dear favorite! I love your reminder that "Storytelling isn't just about words." So true. May we find the permission we need to play.
What a beautiful take on creativity Sarah! Intuitive, experimental, and humorous all at the same time. Loved it! I'm subscribing for more.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
This looks like a lot of fun!
