My tears are for you and yours and all the dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, even the many floating fish I've flushed. I still live catch mice and drive three miles away to release them. Can't help it. Peace.

Thank you, Sarah, for your lovely tribute to Mimi, with story support by Stanley. Your sad cat story brought back our recent experience with Trudy, our 14-year old poodle who we lost recently. I still walk into rooms expecting her, then realizing her absence & feeling the sharp pang of still-present grief. As you said, life, death are intermingled & inescapable.

Mimi was loved all her life for who she was and I suppose when death knocks on life’s door asking for its quiet approval to escape with it in its invisible alleys, we need to question whether one was loved in life. If one was loved then they lived a purposeful life because to awaken love in another’s heart is a rare accomplishment in this self absorbed world.

I have two cats and they are my babies and I can only imagine the propensity of loss that you and your family must have confronted on losing your beloved pet. My deep condolences, may Mimi rest in peace.
